When thinking of law firm names, we wanted a name that reflected the environment in which we are located. In Kodiak, the low groaning sounds of ocean buoys are a constant background noise. In Douglas/Juneau, the sound of foghorns can be heard from the office when large ships are coming up the channel. Both of these sounds serve to warn others and prevent collision and disaster. As attorneys, our goal is to provide guidance to our clients that will allow them to make informed decisions and prevent future issues. 

Some may view foghorns as an annoying sound, although necessary and serving an important function. As attorneys, we are not oblivious to lawyer jokes—we believe that attorneys serve important functions and are necessary in certain situations. We also believe in a sense of humor.
